What? I’ve long held a dream about doing something for my community. I’ve had a love of creating special events, photography and décor. Sitting and looking out on our beautiful back porch, sharing dreams with a friend, receiving tremendous support from my hubby and along came this place! We knew our town needed more quiet getaway spaces and a small event space for special events and creative and entertaining activities. I was already starting up a home staging business and needed some extra space. I decided if I was going to add a building, I might consider a party place and multi-purpose event space. And if I was going to do that, why not create a cozy, comfy B&B where privacy is only interrupted by sounds of nature on the backside of our little abode? My witty husband reminded of my inspiration to create this space: my parents. Dad’s favorite flower and now mine is the wild grown daisy. It’s simple, sweet and charming… everything I hope to create here. So, thank you Dear David and thank you to my late parents (Tony and Carol) for inspiring Daisy Lane.

Why? I knew Corsicana needed a small, affordable space to rent for weddings, showers, parties and other fun activities. Part of our business will also include coming up with events and activities to entertain local guests. The sky is the limit. For now, if you need a creative space, or a fun and easy place to host your next party, reach out. We aren’t here only to provide a space. I have a team of creative friends and helpers who will help make the magic happen.

Hobbies: Where to begin? For many years I had the pleasure of writing, producing live events and television newscasts and producing video projects. I’m also an avid baker and cook. I specialize in simple, yummy foods that keep my husband and family happy. The baking also was inspired by my mom. She was much better at making and decorating beautiful cakes. I do it because it’s fun! I’ve also gotten into making breads, pretzels, pizza crusts, pies and cupcakes. As if that’s not enough to keep me busy, I am slowly but surely working towards my pilot’s license. That’s thanks to the hubby who earned his license at age 16. I support many organizations in town including Navarro College (Dancing for Our Stars), The Salvation Army, James L. Collins Catholic School and various outreach programs at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. My hubby heads up the local weather radar and I get to help with social media and other public relations efforts. I’m a weather junkie. I love people stories and continue still to write for The Corsicana Daily Sun.

Other Stuff: Corsicana is a great small town. As aforementioned, we have our very own Doppler radar. That’s thanks in part to my late father-in-law Lloyd Huffman. Constructed of requisitioned parts from the military, old NWS discarded pieces and more; it helps track severe weather. I’m proud to say that my husband now heads it up with a small staff of volunteers. The town hit a boom in the early 1900’s thanks to oil production. Netflix helped put us on the map a few years ago with the series Cheer. Cheer focused on the award winning and incredible cheerleaders/tumblers at Navarro College. We are also known for our fruitcakes. Actually, Collin Street Bakery, a long standing institution, has made and shipped millions of fruitcakes which are produced locally. Wolf Brand Chili was first sold by a young Lymon T. Davis on Beaton St. There’s a bronze statue marking the spot. I actually sold his home that has an interesting story behind it…seeing that he never lived in it, but his wife and dog did! The Palace Theatre is over 100 years old and currently hosts national musical acts and entertainers. Navarro College has a Civil War museum, Planetarium and Arrowhead Collection with thousands of arrow points found locally and beyond. My mother is from Corsicana. She had worked many years as a seamstress at the long defunct Haggar pant factory. She had long said that she helped sew golf pants for none other than fellow Texan and President, Lyndon Baines Johnson. Pioneer Village has cabins and artifacts and information about some of Corsicana’s storied people.
